Of note for Defence news today is a visit by HRH The Prince of Wales to see Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales in Scotland.
HMS Prince of Wales
Scottish media, including Daily Star Scotland, Scottish Daily Express and Scottish Daily Mail, today report that Prince Charles has visited HMS Prince of Wales at Rosyth in Fife. They write that The Prince of Wales was happy to give ‘his’ ship the royal seal of approval and even gave the signal for the last section of the 920ft warship to be lowered into place at the yard. Now that it is in position, final welding can begin to make the carrier structurally complete, the papers add, and that it is hoped this will be finished by the end of July, ahead of the vessel's sea trials in 2019, before entering service the following year.
