The Battle of The Somme
There is widespread coverage of yesterday’s 100-year anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. The Guardian includes a picture story of wreaths being laid during the ceremony at the Thiepval memorial in France attended by Minister of State for Defence Earl Howe. The Daily Express described the event as a ‘poignant tribute’ with a lone piper marking the centenary.
