In defence news, the MOD's Innovation Initiative is praised and twelve businesses have received awards for their outstanding support to the Armed Forces.

The Times praises the MOD’s Innovation Initiative in a piece on joint research projects accelerating progress, claiming that the department is “accepting the challenge of collaborating better with industry and academia…by inviting companies, large and small, and individuals to pitch for a share of an £800m fund to develop novel ideas for the security of the nation.”
Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon said:
The UK has long enjoyed a reputation as a world leader in innovation. Our new Innovation Initiative will transform Defence culture to ensure that we stay ahead of the curve. With a rising Defence budget, and a £178 billion equipment plan, our commitment to collaboration will deliver a safer and more prosperous Britain.
