Today's defence media includes reporting of the Minister for the Armed Forces in Gibraltar and the return of the Red Arrows.

MINISTER IN GIBRALTAR

The Plymouth Herald has reported on the Minister for the Armed Forces Mike Penning’s visit to Gibraltar. He met with sailors from HMS Enterprise to praise their contribution to rescuing migrants in the Mediterranean.

Minister of State for the Armed Forces Mike Penning said:

Through the stellar efforts of HMS Enterprise and her crew, the Royal Navy has continued to provide vital support in the Mediterranean, saving thousands of lives.

We remain committed to this operation, which is hitting the criminal gangs responsible for putting innocent lives at risk, and HMS Echo will continue the UK’s contribution.

RED ARROWS RETURN

There was widespread coverage over the weekend of the return of jets from the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team to the United Kingdom after completing a global tour seen by hundreds of millions of people.

Red Arrows pilots, engineers and support staff landed at the display team’s Lincolnshire base, RAF Scampton, earlier today to be met by waiting families.

The flight was the final leg of a major two-month tour to the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions – the largest and most wide-ranging undertaken by the Red Arrows in a decade. The deployment contributed to the Government’s GREAT campaign, supporting UK interests across business, trade and education and promoting the best of British innovation, technology and creativity.
