Defence groups team up to bid for Type 31e frigate contract

The Financial Times and The Times both cover the news that Babcock International is leading a consortium of defence companies bidding for the Type 31e frigate programme. The FT coverage also references Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson’s visit today to Babcock’s Appledore shipyard in Devon.

Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said:

The South West is crucial for our military, with a particularly special connection with our Royal Navy and Royal Marines, and it’s good to see Babcock seeking to strengthen that even further with this bid.

Rupert Jones appointed as Assistant Chief of the General Staff

The Times covers today the appointment of Major General Rupert Jones, former Deputy Commander of the military coalition to defeat Daesh, to the role as Assistant Chief of the General Staff at the MOD.
