Today’s defence news includes a Coldstream Guard Soldier making history at Trooping the Colour.

First soldier to take part in Trooping the Colour wearing a turban

The Telegraph, Express and Daily Mirror report that Charanpreet Singh Lall, a Coldstream Guards Soldier, will be taking part in Trooping the Colour today wearing a turban, the first to do so in the history of the parade. More than 1,000 soldiers are taking part in the ceremony today marking the Queen's official birthday.

Guardsman Lall was quoted saying he is excited and honoured to take part in the special occasion.

I hope more people like me, not just Sikhs but from other religions and different backgrounds will be encouraged to join the Army.
