In today's items of interest for Defence there's reporting on Lance Corporal Richard Jones winning Britain's Got Talent on Saturday.

BRITAIN’s GOT TALENT

There is widespread coverage following the victory of magician Lance Corporal Richard Jones on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday. Of note, some of the papers report that LCpl Jones is desperate to stick with his ‘dream’ life in the Army. As he prepared to return to barracks on Wednesday, he told The Mirror: “I love my job, I always have. One thing I have always wanted to do is be in the Army and to be a musician, so I am living the dream. I want to keep it like this.” The papers also makes reference to his brother Andrew, 29, who is also a soldier.

APACHE

The Times follows reporting on Sunday speculating that the MOD is poised to buy Apache helicopters from Boeing.

Our position is below.

The Apache programme is currently in its assessment phase, and we expect to make a decision by summer 2016.
