HMS Vigilant

There is further coverage this morning of allegations against personnel on HMS Vigilant, including in The Sunday Times, The Sunday Herald, The Independent, The Mail on Sunday.

A Royal Navy spokesperson said:

We do not tolerate drugs misuse by service personnel. Those found to have fallen short of our high standards face being discharged from service.

Royal Marines Special Forces selection

The Sunday Telegraph speculates this morning on the Royal Marines and Special Forces selection.

An MOD spokesperson said: 

In the face of ever-changing threats, we are contributing to the cross-government review of national security capabilities and looking at how we best spend our rising defence budget to support that. No decisions have yet been made and at this stage, any discussion of the options is pure speculation.

PTSD and medical discharge

The Sunday Mirror and The People report on potential suffers of PTSD in the military.

An MOD spokesperson said:

We are committed to the mental fitness of our personnel having launched our new strategy and partnered with the Royal Foundation to tackle mental health issues head on. Ministers and services chiefs are unequivocal in their commitment to help those in need; anyone who is suffering will be get the support they deserve.
