Mental health provision
The Mail on Sunday contains a series of articles on mental health provision in the Armed Forces.
An MOD spokesperson said:
We take the mental health of our Armed Forces community extremely seriously, and we work tirelessly to ensure our troops and veterans receive the care they deserve.
We are committed to tackling the stigma of mental illness and have launched a new partnership with the Royal Foundation to improve training and education alongside our Health and Wellbeing strategy.
Homeless veterans
The People reports that there are at least 13,000 homeless veterans in the UK and claims that a high percentage could be struggling with the effects of PTSD.
An MOD spokesperson said:
We provide extensive help to veterans and their families, including funding the Veterans' Gateway which is a single point of contact for veterans to get the support they need.
New army recruitment campaign
The British Army has launched more videos as part of its refreshed recruitment campaign, ‘This is Belonging 2018’. This release has been covered in a number of outlets including the The Sunday Times, The Observer and The Sunday Telegraph.
Colonel Simon Stockley OBE, Assistant Director Recruiting, said:
The latest adverts show the support the British Army gives to all soldiers to encourage them to achieve both personal and professional goals through a shared sense of belonging. Serving soldiers’ stories have inspired the series of adverts from conquering a pull up, or taking on a leadership role, and we look forward to speaking to those looking to find out more about what a role in the Regular Army or Army Reserve could offer them.
