Today’s defence news includes features on the Challenger II Tank and a Royal Navy surgeon.

Interview with Commander Mansoor Ali Khan.

To mark Eid, a feature on Royal Navy Surgeon Commander Mansoor Ali Khan ran in The Sun, focusing on his experiences saving lives in Afghanistan and serving in the Armed Forces as a Muslim. In the interview, he recounts tales of how he dealt with soldiers with horrific injuries suffered in battle and discusses the mental strength required to cope with such distressing environments.

Surgeon Commander Mansoor Ali Khan said:

I’m proud of being British, proud of wearing the uniform and proud of serving in the Navy.

Challenger II tank

Children’s television show Blue Peter broadcast a feature on the Challenger II tank. Presenter Radzi Chinyanganya looked at the history of the tank in World War 1 and then experienced a training simulator before taking command of a Challenger II, including taking on an obstacle known as the “knife edge”. The feature included an interview with Armour Centre Commanding Officer, Lt Col Iain Fake.
