RAF charity launches mental wellbeing initiative
Outlets including The Daily Telegraph, Daily Record, Press & Journal and the Herald all report that the RAF is to fund a mindfulness app for troops. Research by the RAF Benevolent Fund found that 39% of surveyed personnel struggling with mental health had been too embarrassed to seek help, while 76% said they preferred to deal with their problems alone. As part of the initiative, the RAF will fund access to the Headspace mindfulness app, workshops and seminars.
Air Vice-Marshal David Murray, the chief executive of the Fund, is widely quoted. He highlights that there is an "increasing complexity" to many issues and says "the fund has developed a package of practical initiatives that will make a real difference to the lives of RAF personnel and their families.”.
