T7 bomb disposal robots
The Sunday Express, Sun on Sunday, Sunday Mirror and Sunday Telegraph all report that the British Army has taken delivery of the first production models of several cutting edge bomb disposal robots. The first four T7 unmanned ground vehicles are to be delivered as part of a £55 million contract with US tech giant Harris Corporation for 56 robots.
The new models will be rolled by 2020 have advanced dexterity and allow operators to feel their way through the intricate process of disarming a bomb through a remote-controlled hand grip.
Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said:
These robots will go on to be an essential piece of kit, preventing harm to innocent civilians and the brave operators who make explosives safe.
The robots will provide the Army with the latest bomb-disposal technology and will prove to be trusted companions both on UK streets and in deadly conflict zones.
